New Gift Ideas

May 11th, 2011

It always amazes us at Hampering Around what a broad category gifts fall into and what can be given as a gift and why.  It is the what people give and why they give it that really intrigues us.  Only recently The Age published an article about a gift given by the Australian Prime Minister to the Japanese Prime Minster.

It is instances such as these that show the true power and feeling conveyed by giving  special gift or unique gifts .  Unique gift ideas often highlight that it is not just the gift but the reason for giving the gift that leaves the lasting impression.  Combine both (great gift and good reason) and you have a very powerful combination.

The concept of a giving and receiving gifts is as old as society itself. It has always been there in one form or the other. People in all civilizations have been having the pleasure of exchanging gifts in order to establish social relationships and strengthen existing ones or rulers would give away large amounts of goods to their followers (still do in some monarchies) or rich people give away things of value for the collective benefit of the public. Only the forms have kept changing over time.

In todays society and age where we read about continual decline and pressure on so many industries and people, the gift giving spirit is still alive and well.   Fortunately for our industry gifts and the giving and receiving of them are a key part of our society as they create goodwill and provide emotional comfort and support and demonstrate a range of sentiments.  A very good example can be found in the simple gift giving that is part of Chinese culture http://www.minnesota-china.com/education/emecon/giftetiquette.htm.  Gift Baskets, Gift Hampers, Baby Gifts and all the traditional gifts still retain a special place for the right occasion.

So to all those who are feeling the current pressures of the world, keep on giving, it will do as much for you as it does the receiver.

Working with Partners

April 5th, 2011

A key part of our gifts is alcohol and this is across a range of wine and spirit types.  We have very close relationships with our wine suppliers as they play a key role in our gift hampers, gift baskets and gourmet hampers.  They also appear in our baby gifts in certain instances – we know some mums need a drink at times!

Having a close relationship with our partners allows us to ensure reputable products, new products as they come to market and tight quality control.  We don’t use low grade wines and strive to ensure that whatever wine is included with one of our gifts (whether it be the most or least expensive) will be enjoyed and well received.
