Every company I know talks about how good their customer service is yet we rarely hear about what goes on behind the scenes to deliver this.  We view customer service as every action that goes into delivering to our clients a really great gift, as well as their interaction with our customer service team.  This for us starts the moment the client contacts us.  We see our customer service including;

Forms that our customer service team use to document client requirements and details. This ensures we understand what the client wants, clarifies any details and helps ensure our preparation team know what is required of them.

Gathering all the correct client details ie. delivery address, gift card message etc..  This helps us ensure, no mistakes and if any are made, they can be rectified quickly.

Helping the client select the correct gift for their occasion and the recipient. Most of our clients purchase from us because they want something different and/or convenient.  We take great pride in helping clients determine the right gift for their occasion with the correct sentiment.

Our internal production process. We have a rigorous quality control process, this includes monitoring food use by dates, packaging styles and preparation standards that our staff are measured to.

Delivery of the gift, we carefully select all our courier companies and work closely with them to ensure the gift is delivered in the same condition that it left our warehouse.

Whilst the above might not be a normal summary of customer service, we really do see customer service as a continual behaviour right across our business, in everything we do.

This article was recently published by news.com and goes on to point out by 2010 Australians are forecast to spend $1.2bn on gift cards, 30% of which will not be spent.

As a gift company we watch this media commentary with great interest as it illustrates;

  1. People are looking for convenience gifts as time becomes more precious.
  2. How much money gift giving is costing consumers, with no tangible benefit delivered either the giver or receiver.

This presents a huge opportunity for companies such as ours to deliver real gifts, real value and real enjoyment.  All with the convenience.

Finding the right gift

June 18th, 2010

Based on client feedback and our own research we are changing aspects of our website to make it easier for our clients.  New areas will shortly appear on our website that deal with;

1. Christmas Gifts, both from our standard range and made to order (customised) gifts. For example we are already taking Christmas orders for delivery in November/December.

2. Large orders, those clients that wish to order from 100 to 3000 (or more) gifts in a single order.

3. The Hampering Around difference, why we believe we are the best choice for our clients.

4. Corporate branding, everything from ribbon, through to branding an item.

From our research we have noticed that whilst we take a lot of these things for granted (because we are doing them all the time) often we don’t make it as easy we could for our clients to find this information.

We have recently spent a lot of time researching new companies to partner with.  These partners include very well known prestige brands and their distributors, through to researching interesting product marketing concepts.  In recent times we have launched Karma GiftsMovie Tickets Gifts, Organic Gifts, Pet Hampers and Portrait Gifts, all in an attempt to create a broad range for our clients.

We are about to start work on our Christmas range and will be looking to do the same for it.  Our suppliers are our partners and we are always looking for good partners who can bring new and exciting products to our gifts.

We have just launched a new range of gifts for Pets. This has come about due to client interest in this area, our research into gift trends overseas (in the US the pet market is a $1bn market and growing) and a gap we perceive in the local market.  Our Pet Hampers is a small range initially but will grow over time as we develop it.  The gift is for those people who;

1. Love their pets.

2. Want to spoil their pets.

3. Know someone who fits into categories 1 and 2 above.

Let us know what you think about the range and we look forward to any feedback.  You can email us at info@hamperingaround.com.au
