Archive for the ‘Choosing the right gift’ Category

For many years now we have been a specialist provider of gifts for the Real Estate and Property Industry, this includes clients in the following areas;

  1. Real Estate agents – established and new homes
  2. Apartment developers
  3. New Home Builders
  4. Commercial Property Builders and Developers
  5. Serviced Apartment Companies
  6. Retirement village operators

These clients usually require a gift that is different to a standard hamper, their requirements being much more specific and often including a “keepsake” (something in the gift that is left over after any food or wine are consumed). Over the years we have amassed a sizable range of gifts to suit these clients including;

  1. Indoor gifts (items for the home or kitchen)
  2. Outdoor gifts (items such as barbecque gifts)
  3. Gardening gifts
  4. Furniture related gifts

The reason our clients come to us is that we don’t just supply products, like a promotions company or a normal supplier would, we take products and items and turn them into gifts, that look like gifts and will be received as gifts.

Gifts for men

March 23rd, 2012

At Hampering Around we are currently working on improving our gift range for men, what we call Gifts For Him.  The male audience is often forgotten in our business and good quality gifts that convey the right sentiment can be hard to find.  That being said, men can also be difficult to buy for and often won’t have the same connection to a gift that a female will have.  We have begun looking at a range of new options for our website but also cultivating partnerships with other companies who target particular male oriented segments.  One of these is a company who is offering a service to men who want to organise gifts for the special person in their life, aren’t sure what to give but want it to be easy and convenient and tied to a special occasion eg. anniversary, birthday or get out of trouble!.  This company is also looking at some very innovating marketing for how they target their male market.

Our Mag hampers are always a great male gift, but there is more to come, stay tuned.

Further to our last post we have recently not only seen requests for specific industry gifts but also some much broader requirements over and above what we are use to seeing.  As a company we offer gift hampers, gift baskets, baby gifts and all the other things you would expect a company of our type, in recent times however we have been given requirements by clients to develop and prepare gifts for;

Easter, specific themes and venue types with a specific emphasis on a display and presentation requirement. This included a number of items we wouldn’t normally put in a gift (such as items provided by the client).

Custom gifts, with a very specific theme and clear brief about the sentiment the gift should convey to the receiver.

Books, adding specific titles into a gift to fit within a theme or promotion, this has meant not only sourcing titles but also presented some challenges where larger coffee table books are involved in packaging/preparing the gift.

This has all been a good learning experience for our team, it has challenged us in many ways and forced us to think “outside the square” when it comes to what a gift truly is.  In essence it can be anything and we are often only limited by our own thoughts.

Industry specific gifts are something we are finding we are doing more of in recent times.  We are getting requests from clients in specific industries to find gifts that reflect their type of business and transaction.   The industries we are seeing more and more of this in are the Real Estate and Property Industry and  Motor Vehicles as examples.  These clients can often represent a challenge for gifts as they usually have very specific requirements such as;

  1. A gift that reflects the nature of their relationship with their client.
  2. They often have several gift options, so the appropriate option can be given to the client based on their needs, wants, likes and demographic or stage of life.
  3. The gift should be able to be kept for the long term, as often our client is looking to maintain a long term relationship with their client over many years.
  4. Branding, we are finding branding request are becoming more subtle for example branded corporate ribbon, discreet logo’s, the days of a company name emblazoned across an item seem to be disappearing.

These gifts represent a unique challenge in not just creating and finding the right gift but also supplying the gift on a week to week or month to month basis ,often in large volumes, from hundreds to thousands.

If you organisation is considering an on-going gift program, don’t hesitate to talk to a specialised gift company, you’ll be surprised at how much easier they will make the process or choosing the right gift and the on-going supply.

Christmas is a special time of year and means many different things to people.  We always find it interesting to survey our clients about;

  1. What gifts they received.
  2. Did they enjoy the gift.
  3. Was the gift appropriate.
  4. Was the gift just for them or to share with others.

Given our business is gifts, we talk to people who have received all manner of gifts such as experiences, gift cards, gift hampers, alcohol and many other things.

More and more we are seeing people spending time thinking about giving a gift that will be remembered and viewed as special.  Conversely, those receiving the gift form an opinion about what they are given, for example a local radio station today announced it is giving their staff $75 gift cards for use across several stores owned by a major Australian retailer.

Whilst the amount of money spent is reasonable, will the receivers of this gift remember in 12 months time what they received this year or what they purchased with the card?

Part of giving a gift is making it meaningful and leaving a lasting impression.  This is what our business is all about.
