After many months the warehouse seems empty with no sign of life.

The calm after the storm.

The calm after the storm.

Christmas is a special time of year and means many different things to people.  We always find it interesting to survey our clients about;

  1. What gifts they received.
  2. Did they enjoy the gift.
  3. Was the gift appropriate.
  4. Was the gift just for them or to share with others.

Given our business is gifts, we talk to people who have received all manner of gifts such as experiences, gift cards, gift hampers, alcohol and many other things.

More and more we are seeing people spending time thinking about giving a gift that will be remembered and viewed as special.  Conversely, those receiving the gift form an opinion about what they are given, for example a local radio station today announced it is giving their staff $75 gift cards for use across several stores owned by a major Australian retailer.

Whilst the amount of money spent is reasonable, will the receivers of this gift remember in 12 months time what they received this year or what they purchased with the card?

Part of giving a gift is making it meaningful and leaving a lasting impression.  This is what our business is all about.

One of the often overlooked aspects of choosing a gift hamper or gift basket (or any gift for that matter) is how will it be sent to the receiver.

When choosing your gift hamper supplier some consideration should be give to this, particularly;

  1. What company will your gift company use to deliver the gift. Are they reputable?
  2. Ask what steps your gift company takes to ensure the gift is looked after in transit.
  3. Can your company track and trace the gift if there is a problem with delivery?
  4. What is the policy if the gift is damaged/lost in transit – see the terms and conditions page for this, reputable companies will outline their policy.

When it comes to sending a gift there are many things a gift hamper company can do to ensure safe, secure and on time delivery.  From the way the gift is packed to the courier company used, it is all part of the overall service.

As we get closer to Christmas our corporate clients review their gifting plans and decide what they will give out to employees, partners and suppliers.  Inevitably parties, gift cards, Gift Hampers, Gift Baskets and a range of other options are considered.  This year we have compiled our top 5 listing based on the popularity of our gifts so far and our suggestions for those really wanting to leave a lasting impression with whatever they give;

  1. $55 Sparkling Selection
  2. $79 Christmas Cracker
  3. $59 Santa’s Surprise
  4. $99 Glenbawn Goodies
  5. $199 Christmas Party Tub

and there is a huge range of other gifts at different prices.

How do you choose which company to purchase from if you are looking for gift hampers, gift baskets, baby gifts or another gift for a season or occasion.

As with any industry there are a range of suppliers.  They broadly fall into the following categories;

  1. Those that sell via traditional retailers.
  2. Those that sell on-line.

Those sold in the traditional retail model are usually a mass produced gift hamper/basket, they are created to meet a price point (usually at the lower end) and can often have a lot of what you would find in the supermarket in them. These gifts are often found in large retailers such as department stores and other chain style outlets.

Those that sell on-online tend to provide more individual gifts, be more specialised and can offer the extras such as;

  • Gourmet food and wine products.
  • A gift card message.
  • Branding for example branded corporate ribbon.
  • Customisation and the creation of a unique gift.
  • Specialist delivery service.

Both gift types serve a purpose , it is really up to you to choose which one suits your requirements.    Our advice is do your research, look on-line and instore and compare the offerings.
